While the rates of pay for employees engaged under the Miscellaneous Award will not increase until 1 November 2019, any trainees will receive a pay increase according to the award they are engaged under. For example, a trainee engaged under the SCHCADS Award will receive a pay increase from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2021. In consideration of that, this pay table states that these rates apply from 1 July 2021, but this would not be the case for trainees engaged under, for example, the Labour Market Industry Award.

Please note: Schedule E to the Miscellaneous Award 2010 now sets out minimum wage rates and conditions for employees undertaking traineeships. This pay table is based upon that Schedule. Modern Awards now simply refer to the Miscellaneous Award. These rates are derived as percentages of minimum wages. Hence, the 1.75% minimum wage increase is not simply added to last year’s rates.

Also, please note that the rate for full-time traineeships differs from the part-time traineeships due to the 20% of ordinary hours being approved training for full time trainees. It is important to refer to the National Training Wage schedule in the Miscellaneous Award 2010 for more information.
