On Monday 31 January 2022, the final determination of the changes to the SCHADS award were published as a part of the 4-year review of modern awards. The changes will come into operation on 1 July 2022 with a transitional arrangement in place for the changes to phase to part-time employment.

The changes announced vary the following clauses:

  • Part-time employment
  • Laundering/repair-replacement of clothing other than uniforms
  • On-call allowance
  • Broken shift allowance
  • Client cancellation
  • Remote work (new clause)
  • Overtime
  • Recall to work overtime
  • Quantum of leave (shift workers)

Jobs Australia’s Workplace Relations team will be facilitating training sessions to assist Members with an in-depth walk-through on the changes and any possible impacts that this may present. Further details on training will be released in due course.
