This page collates information relating to Indigenous employment programs such as the Community Development Program (CDP), formerly the RJCP, VTECs and the Indigenous Advancement Strategy here.
Since 1 July 2013, RJCP/CDP integrated employment and community-development services in 60 remote regions, for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
The four main programs that previously delivered employment, participation and community-development services in remote Australia were transitioned into the integrated service — Job Services Australia, Disability Employment Services,Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP) and the Indigenous Employment Program.
Under CDP, there is a single provider in each region that works with individuals, communities and local employers to help more people into jobs and build stronger communities. As around 85 per cent of job seekers and communities in these areas are Indigenous people, CDP is an important part of the Government’s agenda for Closing the Gap.
CDP is managed by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).
