 The combined purchasing power of the Jobs Australia network enables its members to access the Master Policies contained in the Blanket Cover Program at a fee that is usually significantly lower than any individual member could obtain if it were to arrange and pay for similar insurance policies.

In most cases, the level and scope of the insurance policies provided under the Blanket Cover Program are generally far higher or broader than any individual member can obtain.

The suite of covers includes:

Public/Products Liability

The Public/Products Liability policy protects subscribers in respect of legal liabilities incurred as a result of acts of negligence which cause Third Party personal injury and/or property damage or loss. Such acts of negligence may arise from any of the activities of a Jobs Australia or Community Sector Industrial Relations member, including the production and sale of goods and/or services.

These policies cover:

  • board members of subscribing organisations;
  • all staff including volunteers;
  • all eligible job seekers/participants;
  • the incorporated body; and for subscribers to the main Blanket Cover Program:
  • the Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations for their respective rights and interests as required under the JSA and DES Funding Deeds.

Professional Indemnity

The Professional Indemnity policy provides cover for legal liability which may arise from a failure to exercise a fair, reasonable and competent degree of skill, in the provision of professional services by the subscriber which results in a financial loss to a third party.

In general terms, the policy will respond to a breach of professional duty, meaning it will respond to negligent acts, errors and omissions. For example:

  • misleading or inaccurate advice - an "act";
  • a mistake in calculations - an "error"; and
  • failure to do something required - an "omission".

In addition, costs and expenses incurred in the defence and settlement of a claim are covered.

Fire and Perils (including Business Interruption)

The Fire and Perils policy covers physical loss, destruction of or damage to property caused by a number of risks including fire, lightning, explosion, malicious damage by a third party, riots and civil commotion, storm damage, water damage, flood, earthquake, glass breakage, accidental damage, burglary/theft, loss of money as well as the loss of revenue/profit which may result from physical loss, destruction to or damage to property.

Directors' and Officers' and Company Guarantee

The Directors' and Officers' and Company Guarantee policy covers the legal liability of directors and officers arising out of claims first made against the director or officer by reason of wrongful acts whenever or wherever committed or alleged to have been committed. 

This cover provides protection for individual officers and members of management committees or boards of directors in respect of claims made against them as individuals for wrongful acts committed or alleged to have been committed by them in the management and administration of the member organisation.

Personal Accident for Volunteers and Job Seekers

The Personal Accident policy provides protection for accidental bodily injury or death rising from involvement in the operation of a member's organisation's programs or activities (including travel to and from such activities).

This cover includes:

  • All eligible jobseekers/participants in Jobs Australia and related Jobs Australia activities as declared to Jobs Australia Limited (NB where DEEWR cover applies claims should be directed to them in the first instance);
  • all voluntary workers whilst undertaking their duties on behalf of subscribing organisations; and
  • board and committee of management members whilst conducting their duties on behalf of Jobs Australia.

Personal Accident for Employees

  • Protection for accidental bodily injury or death rising for employees of a Jobs Australia subscribing organisation.

  • This cover includes all employees of nominated subscribing organisation as stated below:

Full-time and Part-time Employees

  • Protection for accidental bodily injury or death 24 hours per day 365 days per year.

Casual Employees

  • Protection for accidental bodily injury or death for actual days worked for the nominated Jobs Australia member including travelling to and from work on that day.

Labour Hire Employees

  • Protection for accidental bodily injury or death 24 hours per day for the period they are employed by the nominated Jobs Australia member and placed with a third party employer.

Fidelity Cover

Motor Vehicle (non-owned)

This policy provides cover for legal liability for third party property damage arising out of the use of the employees and/or volunteers private motor vehicle on the business of the insured.

In the event of an accident involving such vehicles (owned by employees and/or volunteers) which are comprehensively insured, the policy provides: reimbursement of the excess; pay ate the first renewal, the difference between the premium which would have been paid had the accident not occurred and the premium payable as a result of the accident; the owners legal liability for third party property damage, and; cover the cost of repairs should the owners insurer decline to repair the vehicle.

Corporate Travel Cover
